Diagnostic Tools

These diagnostic tools were developed to research and alleviate vestibular pathologies, including the adverse effects aviators’ neurological orientation systems suffer at high speeds. Because these symptoms are comparable to those found in the general public, this equipment helps us achieve the best results for our clients in the least amount of time.

Balance Quest

Our computerized dynamic posturography machine tests general balance functionality. By measuring a patient’s responses to a variety of visual stimuli emulating normally occurring conditions, we gather information about the nature and degree of symptoms.

RealEyes Monocular Goggles

These specially designed goggles allow us to obscure vision and then observe eye movement in dizzy patients. The results of this test help us differentiate between inner ear and other neurological issues, and accurately prescribe an effective treatment plan.

Vestibular Autorotation Test (VAT)

By assessing the vestibular ocular reflex (VOR) in the horizontal and vertical planes we are able to critically evaluate the inner ear system. The VOR controls the eyes’ ability to focus on an object while the head is moving, which is largely responsible for the body’s ability to achieve and maintain balance.

Wayne Visflex

This diagnostic tool is of a four-foot rod with 16 LED lights along the top, and is used for developing greater visual awareness, accuracy, and fluidity in free space. The Wayne Visflex is useful for enhancing monocular and binocular eye movement control in any meridian of gaze, focusing flexibility and visual teaming at varied distances and speeds, and general visual awareness.

Wayne Saccadic Fixator

This wall-mounted instrument includes a touch-sensitive membrane panel containing 33 LED lights arranged in three concentric circles with one light at the center. The lights illuminate in random order and the speed varies based on the patient’s ability to perform the task. Patients respond by pressing the membrane button surrounding the lights. The built-in computer and an ancillary balance apparatus provide an unlimited variety of diagnostic and rehabilitative activities.

KAT (Kinetic Awareness Trainer)

KAT is a valuable tool in the rehabilitation of patients with balance and neurosensory deficits. The balance platform provides adjustable support and necessitates active balance responses, while the handrails ensure safety. This equipment is incorporated with the Wayne Saccadic Fixator for a more stimulating environment and a more challenging exercise.
